The breathtaking National Park provides the perfect location for family adventures, including easy-going trail walks, with the most popular being the coastal trail to Hells Gate that delivers stunning natural landscape with panoramic views of the spectacular coastline–be sure to keep your eyes peeled among the eucalyptus for the resident Koalas and out at sea to spot the dolphins frolicking or migrating whales.

Family Activities

The idyllic location of Noa by the Beach provides the perfect location for family activities out on the water, from exploring the Noosa River by boat hire, kite-surfing, snorkelling, fishing, kayaking through Noosa’s everglades, paddle boarding and the opportunity to become the next world champion surfer with a number of great surf schools perfect for beginners or the more experienced.

For an easy afternoon, head to Noosa Main Beach and treat the kids with handcrafted gelato from Massimo’s or pop into Happy Pops for artisanal gelato and gourmet waffles on a stick, a firm favourite of our kids!

Hire a bike or explore further afield to find Wildlife HQ Zoo and TreeTop Challenge at the Big Pineapple, the Ginger Factory at Yandina, Bli Bli Watersports for wakeboarding and the inflatable aqua park, McMartins Farm for strawberry picking (between May - September) and a great playground for young children, Aussie World and Steve Irwin’s legacy-Australia Zoo, a must-do during your stay.

For a rainy day activity, head to Rush Adventureland in Mooloolaba for Sunshine Coast’s largest indoor family entertainment and adventure centre.

Or swap your surfboard for a horse, and take advantage of Noosa’s stunning coastline on horseback with Equathon Horse Riding Adventures (aged 7 and older).

Travel back in time with a nostalgic journey through the Mary Valley on an original steam train.

Shopping & markets

Enjoy a day out shopping browsing through the boutiques along Hastings Street and Noosa Junction for chic stores like no other. If you’re in search of something that will remind you of the tranquil, carefree days of your time in Noosa-perhaps a pair of shorts with the ubiquitous Noosa turkey on it, or a surfboard from Noosa Long Boards.

Why not pop over to Peregian Beach village, just 15 minutes from Noosa for a freshly brewed coffee and peruse the homeware and specialty shops with real character.  

Spoilt for choice when it comes to markets on the Sunshine Coast, each thriving with colour and a mix of stores – from food to entertainment to artisan treasures – Eumundi Markets come alive each Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

Surrounding Areas

Mooloolaba- a mere 35 min drive, Mooloolaba is home to beautiful beaches, great food and the largest shopping centre on the Sunshine Coast, Sunshine Plaza. Head to Mooloolaba Spit to indulge in some fish and chips from one of the many seafood takeaway and restaurants, or drop by the Wharf for some excellent food from one of the many cafes and restaurants or take the kids to the Sea Life Aquarium.

Cooroy - head to the incredible new nature-playground in the center of Cooroy. With flying foxes, giant twisty slides, lots of climbing structures, and a maze of shallow splash pools, it’ll be a hit with the kids. Afterwards, walk to the town centre to eat lunch at one of quaint cafes.

Eumundi– charming historic town and village, dotted with quaint eateries and pubs. Eumundi comes alive on Wednesday and Saturdays when the Eumundi Markets is on. 

Maleny– this charming village is set amongst rolling hills in the hinterland with spectacular views to the Glasshouse Mountains.  Head to Maleny Dairies for a tour of the farm and see the process of dairy production. Sample the delicious range of milks, yoghurts, custard and cream, or pack a BYO picnic. 

Montville – visit this quaint town renowned for its art galleries, pottery studios, antique shops and specialty shops. And if you are in the area, visit Flame Hill Winery.
